BlueZ C Institute is a private, non-profit association, spinoff from the University of Algarve, dedicated to marine conservation and carbon economy. We work to prevent, deter and reverse the manipulation of coastal marine ecosystems.

What is blue carbon?

Blue carbon is carbon captured and stored by coastal and marine ecosystems, such as seagrass meadows, mangroves and salt marshes. These ecosystems are extremely efficient at capturing CO2 from the atmosphere and storing it long-term.
